As a fellow felmae gamer, (and one your age) I would respectfully disagree with most of your article. I have been a hardcore gamer most of my life, without even knowing that there was a difference. I've never been the cheerleader type, even though I was one, (thanks Mom) or the fashion trendy preppy type. In fact, most girls back when I was in high school annoyed the crap out of me with there shallowness and their crappy attitude. I never understood them, and they never understood me. To this day it amazes me how many of them ended up with a console. Guys were different. I can't remember a time that I didn't have a guy friend and I wouldn't change that for the world. Being good at games made me one of the guys and I was completely cool with that. The only one of these I agree with some what is number 1. Don't get me wrong, I love to talk game, whether it be about the developer, the crazy political backside of the industry (ie, Bondi's recent downfall) and it's cool to talk to a guy about it and all, but what bugs me the most about the elitist type is that they speak to you like your stupid, or so old that every console you see is called a Nintendo. If I game, and really am hardcore as those who need labels to live would refer to it as, then I probably already read about it. Don't explain to me what polygons are or what boom lighting is. I'll already know. Instead, initiate a conversation about the subject instead of lecture me like a bad first grade teacher. It's not that I don't care, I just don't want to waste my time or be talked down to. Girl gamers are a proud people. If we're for real, we can hold our own in a discussion about the differences between developers, publishing wars and the like. I guess all of that bleeds over into number 2, which I do agree with. Also, to all you guys out there who aren't clinging to your neanderthal roots, Thank you so much. I am one of those girls with the gender neutral gamertag/ PSNID. I'm that girl who uses the mic but doesn't speak, at least until after the game and you've been thrashed. Sadly, I'm the girl that will happily be mistaken for a little boy. You men talk about maturity in your little comments I swear, guys feel the least bit threatened by a girl whose better at them at anything and their brains move to their nether regions Number 3. I like new friends. Who the hell doesn't like new friends? If I get along with your and you get along with mine, that's freaking awesome in my book. If not, no problem either, because there's our excuse to get away from each other for a while. My guy is best friends with this fanboy who is threatened by girl gamers. Whatever. I'm going to see my people. See you later.Number 4: Completely agree with that, but just wanted to emphasize that gamers do what they do to escape and relax. So that means if we're playing, I don't know, the campaign mode of any single player game, then no, we probably don't want to jump on Halo. Don't get mad. It's just like regular girls who, maybe, go get fake finger nails or something. You're not invited. And finally, number 5. I can't stress enough my lack of respect for labels. I don't care what you do, don't do, or wish you could do or what you tell others your super beast at doing. I care about who you are and why you do what you do. Chances are, she will too, but it could be that she's the girl with the muted mic.
